2020 brought together over 100 people (in a virtual environment) to learn about climate through the lens of the lived experience. While GHG are not popular knowledge, health, jobs and our future are.

Protecting Our Waters in High Tide
In November of 2019, due to lack of regulatory protections and historic high lake levels, the shoreline of the Detroit River collapsed under the bulk of industrial weight, exposing Manhattan Project era nuclear waste to our drinking water.
MEJC mobilized to demand accountability.
Environmental Racism with Title VI
Residents of Detroit's East Side and Hamtramck fought against the expansion of US Ecology, a hazardous waste site, as it expanded 9x to store PFAS and other hazardous waste. In 2020, MEJC has joined Great Lakes Environmental Law Center and 4 other plaintiffs, and submitted a Title VI complaint against the State of Michigan siting racism.
