Residents of Detroit's East Side and Hamtramck fought against the expansion of US Ecology, a hazardous waste site, as it expanded 9x to store PFAS and other hazardous waste. In 2020, MEJC has joined Great Lakes Environmental Law Center and 4 other plaintiffs, and submitted a Title VI complaint against the State of Michigan siting racism.
