Mikal Goodman

Mikal is a public servant, community leader, and dedicated environmental justice organizer, who is thrilled to bring deep passion and experience to his role as Manager of the Michigan Alliance for Justice In Climate (MAJIC).

In addition to his role with MAJIC, Mikal serves the residents of Pontiac as a member of the City Council, using his position to advocate for and pass policies that serve the community. Mikal has been a consistent voice on council for initiatives that improve quality of life for the majority black and brown residents of Pontiac, including access to quality, affordable housing and a commitment to improving the city's environmental impact. Moreover, as the recently elected co-chair of the Metro Detroit Democratic Socialists of America, Mikal has set a clear vision for the organization to lead and support ecosocialist campaigns and efforts across the region.

Prior to joining MAJIC, Mikal worked in political and community organizing as a political organizer for Oakland Forward, where he organized with black and brown grassroots members across Oakland County to transform their community.

As the new MAJIC Manager, Mikal is excited to bring his many years of community and political organizing to fulfill the vision of building an organization focused on passing transformative environmental policy that centers the needs and concerns of black and brown Michiganders who live on the front lines of the ravages of climate change.
