Justice 40 Accelerator Program Manager
Latia Leonard is the Justice 40 Program Manager with the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition (MEJC). Latia holds passion in advocating for environmental justice, on issues of water access, affordability, just transition, community engagement, and developing youth EJ leaders. At MEJC, Latia leads the organization’s partnership on the new statewide MI Justice 40 Accelerator alongside Elevate and the Michigan Department of Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). In her capacity, she executes the statewide community engagement strategy for the J40 Accelerator, working with organizations across the state to assist in disseminating resources, application support, and coordinating professional development. Latia served as a Climate Justice Catalyst Fellow with the Tishman Center for Social and Environmental Justice at the University of Michigan’s School for Environment & Sustainability (SEAS), where she received her MS in Environment & Sustainability. She holds an BA in Communication from Michigan State University.
