Aiko Fukuchi
Operations Associate
Aiko Fukuchi (they/them) supports the maintenance and strengthening of internal systems at MEJC as Operations Associate. They are invested in building participatory, accessible spaces and systems that prioritize care, connection, and trust, while bringing us closer to the futures we're creating for ourselves. Coming from an initial organizing background of intersectional gender justice as a student organizer, Aiko joined the Environmental Justice movement in 2016 working with East Michigan Environmental Action Council on the Breathe Free Detroit campaign which organized around a just transition away from the Detroit incinerator. In addition to EJ, Aiko is committed to practices & structures that facilitate collective care and promote community safety practices that shift us away from a reliance on carceral systems.
